Eu gosto muito do Boechat. Meses atrás, ele entrou no restaurante em que eu estava. Na saída, fiz questão de ir até sua (his) mesa e cumprimentá-lo. De maneira geral, concordo com tudo que ele fala. Porém, ele disse algo faz alguns dias que, para mim, é um erro de avaliação. Ele disse que o povo brasileiro tem uma elevada consciência política. Que está todo mundo antenado no que acontece em Brasília (e em Curitiba também). Meu querido Boechat, não concordo. Um povo entupido de novela, música sertaneja e futebol, um povo que tem por ídolos mediocridades globais, um povo que não estuda, não lê e não sabe nada, - um povo assim, Boechat, será sempre facilmente enganado por aqueles abutres engravatados.

Some leaders are born great, argued Shakespeare. In many ways Thomas Joseph Mboya, the firebrand Kenyan nationalist who was assassinated at the early age of 39 in 1969 in Nairobi, could be said to have been born great. An early achiever in almost everything he did, Tom Mboya inspired change and rose to the top of the nationalist movement in Kenya from a trade unionist background at the early age of twenty-one. To be born great does not mean an individual sits back and just becomes great by doing nothing; it is only in feudal society that mere parentage bestows one with recognition and awe in society.
