Analfabetismo funcional em inglês

                                               
O que é um analfabeto funcional? De maneira bem direta, pode-se dizer que é aquele que, apesar de saber ler, escrever e fazer contas simples, é incapaz entender um artigo de jornal ou revista, preencher um cadastro ou realizar operações básicas no computador.

Neste post, e no próximo, vou propor alguns exercícios em inglês que não são de minha autoria. Extraí-os (!) de várias fontes quando dei uma palestra sobre o assunto anos atrás.

São abordagens variadas, todas visando testar os reading comprehension skills dos alunos.

1.   Choose the right answer:

A)  He used to write home once a week.
From this sentence we understand that he
a)   enjoys writing home every week.
b)   never fails to write a weekly letter home.
c)   doesn’t now write home once a week.
d)   was forced to write home every week.

B)  The holiday wouldn’t have cost so much if they hadn’t gone abroad.
From this sentence we know that
a)   they went abroad for the holiday and spent a lot.
b)   they didn’t go abroad for the holiday, so they didn’t spend much.
c)   they had a holiday abroad at a very low cost.
d)   the holiday cost as much as a foreign holiday would have cost.
