67. I always find it difficult to understand what he means. (Se o objeto do verbo find é um to-infinitive, é necessário usar it.)
68. As soon as he had finished eating his soup, he rose from his chair and said he had to leave. (Finish vem seguido de gerund, não de to-infinitive.)
69. At first, I didn’t recognise him because of his beard. (First of all normalmente introduz uma sequência, acompanhada muitas vezes por then e after that. At first simplesmente significa a princípio ou de início.)

61. The motel was a long way to the nearest filling station. (Convém não usar far em sentenças afirmativas.)
62. Should you need any further information, don’t hesitate to contact us. (Farther só é usado para indicar distância.)
63. It seems lots of people are in favour of the intervention in the public security in Rio de Janeiro. (Favourable é uma adjetivo atributivo, i.e., é usado antes de um adjetivo, tipo favourable comment, favourable report.)
64. Every time I rememberd his face I felt a little afraid. (You feel afraid, not fear.)

65. My grandma was a six foot two inches tall woman. (Quando um adjetivo é formado de uma unidade de medida, precedida de um número – como, por exemplo, a four-year-old boy, a three-kilo bag, a two-mile walk, etc. tal unidade vem sempre no singular.)

57. The terrorists threatened to blow up the whole hospital. (People blow up places; bombs explode them.)
58. Chinese products such cars and textiles are rather cheaper than American ones. (Você não usa fairly + comparativo.)
59. In Singapore you will get a heavy fine if you are caught dropping rubbish on the pavement. (fall: cair; drop: derrubar, deixar cair, jogar no chão).
60. What costume are you wearing to the Halloween party? (fantasy: produto da imaginação: costume: roupa engraçada ou exótica que se usa em certas festas. Eu já saí, believe it or not, de Capitão Gancho num baile de carnaval na Alemanha.)

51. My high school history teacher was by far the most unpleasant person I had ever met before.
52. There are so far no evidences that the former president took bribes from construction companies.
53. “I’m willing to do anything – anything, do you hear? – except to betray my country!” he said.
54. Every teenager faces lots of problems growing up, and my son Pete is not an exception.
55. The problem of violence in Rio de Janeiro has been existing for decades.



Correção

52.  There is so far no evidence that the former president took bribes from construction companies. Evidence é uncountable. Só se usa no singular)
53.  “I’m willing to do anything – anything, do you hear? – except Ø betray my country!” he said. (Except não vem seguido de to infinitive.)
54.  Every teenager faces lots of problems growing up, and my son Pete is no exception. (Be no exception e não be an exception, que soa português mal traduzido.)
55. The problem of violence in Rio de Janeiro has existed for decades. ( Exist não é normalmente usado em continuous tenses.)

47. I’m afraid there’ll be no time enough to catch the 11:02 train to Glasgow.
48. He was arrested as soon as he entered the train.
49. The way I see it, Batman is equally as strong as Superman.
50. Even though she did everything she could to help him, but he wouldn’t stop complaining.




46. Correção: He dated her for three years, but ended up marrying somene he had met just a few weeks earlier. (end: terminar, concluir, finalizar; end up: acabar (fazendo algo indesejável ou inesperado).

47. Correção: I’m afraid there’ll be no enough time to catch the 11:02 train to Glasgow. (enough + substantivo, e.g. enough time, enough money etc.; adjetivo + enough, tipo tall enough, rich enough etc.)

48. Correção: He was arrested as soon as he boarded/got on the train. (enter a building, the room, the woods; board/get on a train, a ship, a plane)

49. Correção: The way I see it, Batman is just as strong as Superman. (Equally não vem seguido de as...as)

50. Correção: Even though she did everything she could to help him, he wouldn’t stop complaining. (Se a oração subordinada se inicia com even though, a principal não pode começar com but.)

41. Correção: You need another knife. This one’s too blunt. (Blind quer dizer cego, que não consegue enxergar; blunt também quer dizer cego, mas que não consegue cortar. O primeiro se refere a pessoas ou animais: o segundo a facas, tesouras, machados etc.

42. Correção: Soon rain started to pour. None of the three children were wearing raincoats. (neither of = nenhum de dois; none of =nenhum de três ou mais)

43. Correção: His first novel was published when he was 22 years old. (edit = editar, isto é, corrigir, revisar e emendar um texto antes de publicá-lo; publish = publicar, isto é, produzir e colocar em circulação um livro, revista etc.)

44. Correção: “Which is more efficient, a calculator or an abacus?” “It depends on who operates them.” (efficient: eficiente, que trabalha rapidamente e não comete erros; effective: efetivo, que produz o efeito que se espera, tipo an effective medicine, por exemplo.)


45. Correção: I dont believe him. When he says he loves me he means something other than love. (Something else não pode vir seguido de than, tipo We’ve had enough of that. Let’s talk about something else Ø.)

36. Correção: Nowadays it is vital to make a distinction between real news and fake news. (Make a difference = dar um outro aspecto a uma situação, torná-lo melhor; make a distinction: distinguir, diferenciar)

37. Correção: “I refuse to discuss Ø that matter again,” he said.angrily, banging on the table. (Discuss é um verbo transitivo direto e, portanto, não vem seguido de preposição)

38. Correção: She asked me what the hell I was doing outside in such cold weather. (Não se usa a forma interrogativa – aux. + sujeito + verbo principal – em sentenças afirmativas.)

39. Correção: I have no doubt that the government has again made a huge mistake. (To have no doubt that, mas to have my doubts whether)


40. Correção: He staggered like a drunken man, swaying back and forth to save himself from falling. (Drunk é um adjetivo predicativo, ou seja, só pode ser usado após um verbo de ligação, enquanto drunken é um adjetivo atributivo, isto é, vem sempre antes de um substantivo.)
